    these truly are glorious to look at! I’m thinking possibly a type of Pholiota…textures and colors are working more that direction then anything else I can come up with at the moment…

    Wonderful find, Steppeland! They look similar to some I found last summer growing on a live tree. Google Pholiota and see if you find a match.

    absolutely….
    The skin on the stems where the cap seperates show that perfect white…while the brown spore has started settling on those scales. Then the texture of the cap and the color…perfect!
