Pics made during two early morning winter hikes around Amersfoort the Netherlands – The first morning it was raining cats and dogs, the second day it was misty and freezing cold, and there was frost every where… great opportunities to make lots of moody pics :D
The little cups of Cup Lichen (Cladonia – Wikipedia )
The details of this lichen are very pretty and fascinating – it’s really worthwhile to have a closer look (click on the image to enlarge :) )
Although Cup Lichen isn’t a rare specimen at all, people often just overlook it because it’s so small.
As for the environment, these macro pics were made exactly on the same spot as my little landscape-series Silent trees in misty land . The ground was covered there with a variety of lichens and mosses.
