Female catkin of the hazel tree (Wikipedia)

Close up of the tiny, warm red flowers of the hazel tree. While the bright yellow male catkins very distinctly are swinging in the wind and spreading their pollen with millions at a time – the female catkins are sitting patiently close to the branch, modestly and with patience, opening up to the warmth of the sun and… the pollen to come their way. True to their deepest selves, they wait… The choice to live, the longing to be fruitful, the wish to be open … so vulnerable, and so incredible courageous…

What a lovely capture! This image shows how fragile and hesitant the first harbingers of spring are, which is also true for spring itself.

  • Indeed, Karina! Thank you so much for your visit and thoughtful comment! :)
