Early Spring collection
National Park South Kennemerland – collection
- Kennemer Duinen (Engl. Kennemer Dunes) – the Netherlands, April 2010
One single daffodil ( Wikipedia) , next to an old trunk on the forest soil of the Kennemer Duinen.
At some places, where the old inland dunes and woods of the Kennemer Dunes edge with the populated neighbourhoods surrounding the National Park, one can find flowering spring bulbs like Daffodils, Winter Aconite and Alpine Squill, single or in small groups spread over the forest soil.
One single swallow doesn’t make spring – but one daffodil does!
Or with the words of Shakespeare:
“They come before the swallows dare, and take the winds of March with beauty” (Shakespeare, The Winter’s Tale)
