The Fighting Roosters and the Eagle

Artist's Description

This image comes from one of Aesop’s Fables:
Two roosters were fighting over who would rule the roost. One rooster beat his rival soundly, and was the clear victor. He flew to the rooftop and crowed loudly, broadcasting his victory to the entire farm. He was so intent on his boasting he failed to notice the eagle flying overhead, who was more than happy about finding such an easy dinner.
The beaten rooster, his prideful rival gone, was left to rule the henhouse in peace.
This image is one of many story images of birds and animals featured in my calendar Legendary Tales: Myths and Legends
