I came across this anemone while diving at Ningaloo Reef, just sitting on a ‘pedestal’ of coral by itself. I only wish I had taken more than one photo!
That’s so pretty. Love the colours on the rocks!
Thats a monster!! You’ll just have to go back, Steph!
love anemonies & their unique inhabitants reminds me of Palau,Micronesia, well captured, like the Pink anemone fish poking his or her head around the corner, cheers
Thanks Basia, Mel and Matt. Matt – yeah I like that pink anemone poking his head out – I didn’t realise to a while later that I’d caught him!
looks fantastic Steph ! nice and sharp – hopefully i will see something similar this w/e :)
Great capture Stephanie.
Thanks Tony and Bev :)
Stephanie, this is so awesome and pin sharp! How big is it? It’s hard to tell as I don’t know how big the fish are.
I don’t even really know what an Anemone is—looks like someone dropped a serving dish overboard and this mad coral started growing inside it. I’m so dumb when it comes to undersea life.
In any event, you’ve got an amazing shot of it with those black fish keeping watch. Dig their white spots that face the camera no matter which way they turn… OK, I’ll shut up now before I expose more of my ignorance.
What are those black fish called?
Hi Billyboy,I think they are Domino Damsel fish but I could be wrong. They hang around anemones and apparently can be very fierce and territorial, but I didn’t get close enough to find out! They get to around 9 centimeters long, so that anemone was quite big. I was very impressed when I saw it!Thanks for your comments :)
Hi Stephanie,I love your underwater shots & all the info you provide with them. Its amazing to see all this life that a lot of times we never think about. Keep them coming, I’m loving it.
