But Wait, There Is SO Much More

The thing everyone asks is how I get all my photographs to appear in rows of batches, evenly spaced. It’s all done with smoke, mirrors and comma’s.

I regularly write stories on how to do this, but it’s only recently occured to me that people are really asking ‘but how can I do that?’. I have only one real answer: Have a little patience, a lot of time, and MS Notepad. But since nothing is that simple , read on…

The thing everyone asks is how I get all my photographs to appear in rows of batches, evenly spaced. It’s all done with smoke, mirrors and comma’s.
eg:
! img ! : link , ! img ! : link , ! img ! : link , ! img ! : link .

They have to be on the same line of text. If using Microsoft Notepad, un-tick ‘Word Wrap’ under FORMAT on the top menu. Simple really. But you might like to know a few extra facts…

Fitting Vertical and Horizontal Images Per Row

Here’s something you probably didn’t know, or haven’t seen yet: Each of your uploaded images is compressed to make six different sizes to be used on different pages within RB. Can you see the difference below?

I’m sure you can see this difference in each image above.

XLarge : Used for ‘View Larger’ under each image. This has the watermark.
Large : This is probably the best size for showing off your work, but you won’t fit anymore than one per line in your journal.
Medium : Two per line, but may effect sidebar on right of screen.
Small : Can fit 5 vertical small images per line, but only 3 or 4 horizontal small images, depending on size ratio (7:2, 5:1, 3:1)
XSmall : Handy if you want to fit lots of images on a page, but impossible to discern details.
Cropped and Small : Used for your art on your personal RB page.

What This Post Looks Like Underneath

The code for the batch above looked like this before I pasted into RB:

! img ! : link , ! img ! : link , ! img ! : link , ! img ! : link
! img ! : link , ! img ! : link , ! img ! : link , ! img ! : link
! img ! : link , ! img ! : link , ! img ! : link , ! img ! : link
! img ! : link , ! img ! : link , ! img ! : link , ! img ! : link
! img ! : link , ! img ! : link , ! img ! : link , ! img ! : link
! img ! : link , ! img ! : link , ! img ! : link
! img ! : link , ! img ! : link

asterix asterix asterix (don’t write text, put actual character, this forms horizontal line, must have blank line above and below)

! img ! : link , ! img ! : link , ! img ! : link
! img ! : link , ! img ! : link , ! img ! : link

Anything Else I Should Read and Learn?

(This is for the person who asked about that batch )

Vonnie, this technique of sorting work is more involved than a five second answer, so but I suggest you read each of these articles to get more information:

1. Formatting Your Article
2. Linking Photographs
3. Making the Series Pages

There are other articles that talk about this, but I like to think that these three are the most concise. :)

    Try this:
Start ; ‘All Programs’ ; Accessories … and it should be in there.

But any Editor will do the job. But not MS Word!
    Why not?
Because it converts apostrophes and quotes to the font-type, rather than leaving it unformatted. Ok, for the faint-of-heart and the technical-illiterate, just don’t use MS Word.
