Have you noticed on some ‘RB Art Galleries’ that the comment count exceeds the triple-digit mark … but when you trawl through them, more than half the comments are the artist saying ‘Thank you, thank you thank you’ ad infinitum ?
Here is my tip of the day for those getting a lot of comments:
Do a bulk-comment, answering everyone within the one post. Don’t answer each individually, unless you only get them sporadically.
Whilst you might feel good that your traffic reads lots of comments, half of which are your own, it often turns viewers away because they have trawl through them to find out what’s going on. Personally, and IMHO, I often don’t leave a comment because I feel I am repeating what’s already been said several times (ie, Fantastic composition, Amazing Art, Great DOF, Macro, BOKEH, Damn that shot is good, etc), and already been responded. So I’ll fave you and talk about your in my own journal. So much easier.
So, wait, wait a bit longer, wait till about three people have left their message … Go for the ‘softy softly’ approach.
This post is as much a reminder to myself than for anyone else. But I know there’s a few out there who might understand the message and sentiment.
Tip for Answering Comments
So many comments, so little space nor time!

Hear hear Steven. And this is exactly what I try and do (when I need to). This way also I can add a few more tid bits about the image, shoot, why I created it, or what it means. Much more interesting and useful for everyone. Good post.

I totally agree… while every once in awhile I’ll return a comment on my own work, nine times out of ten I’ll just send them a bubble mail thanking them, I find it more convenient, and it becomes a bit more personal then.

I agree….if I want to thank the person who has left a comment on my work, I bubblemail them or view their gallery and leave a comment on their work and then thank them at that time! I like to see how many people leave a comment on my work rather than trying to figure out how many were actually comments and not mine!
