My Web Site

Seen whilst driving on Kangaroo Island, this abandoned homestead proved to be a fantastic location for hundreds of photographs!

These homes were built at a time in Australian-history when corrugated-iron was cheap and easily-manufactured.

The internal walls are solid lime-stone, there is a fire-place in every room (and built to last the test of time), and very high ceilings.

What’s most amazing is that the toilet (as seen on right) has a great view of the farm over the front-yard.

What a neat place….are these all tin buildings?…and wouldn’t they be really hot in the summer?

  • Thanks for the question Wendi. I’m putting additional information in the sidebar regarding those issues.

truly great Stephen my cousin still has an outback loo on his property at Truro although, the inside one is definately the way to go : )

  • Hey Jan, most definitely. When I was a boy our home had a long-drop. I would never want to go back to that type!
