What a Beak! by

A lone pelican standing in the shallow waters north of the Kingscote Pier. He was a good guy, he walked right up to me … within 10metres. Both of us enjoyed our time, but I really enjoyed capturing these photographs!

Yes, this has been manipulated to reveal the details of the beak and blow-out the background.

He’s fluffed up his gorgeous feathers for you too!! They are such posers… but get away with it because they are so beautiful and magnificent :D

  • Very true GG. This fella was contorting his neck to get the best effect. I’m sure he’s had too many cameras aimed at him over the years!

Fabulous detail in the beak and the dark showing through on his neck……gotta love those pelicans!

  • Thank you EarthGypsy. I agree, pelicans make the best study of feather-detail. And their eyes.
