I’ve decided you will not be seeing my artwork on the back of a Redbubble/Apple iPhone case.
My art is art, not an addon or bling. Whilst I believe in diversification, this new product offering does not fit in with my ethos.

Biggzie
that makes 2 of us …
Stephen Mitchell:
I suspect there are more of us BIggzie, but some are not so open to discussing the issue.

hmmm, interesting… the way I look at it, the medium for art is constantly changing. In the early days of photography it was not considered art, as was the case with graffiti. So, I defintely respect your opinion, I’d differ. I gues you posted this to generate a bit of a discussion. Cheers
Stephen Mitchell:
John, Yeah, to generate some discussion, but mostly I wanted to make it clear that whilst I understand that some people like this idea, it isn’t my cup of tea.

Go to the local Art Society & the Arty Farty’s with a paint brush still dont think photography is an art …
Stephen Mitchell:
Good point.
BYRON
I too respect your opinion.
Photos used to only be printed on glass plates… things have come a long way. I think its that fine line between creating for artistic or commercial purposes. Both ideals are valid, one feeds the soul, the other feeds the family.
Personally, I love the idea of having my artwork on such an accessible and culturally significant medium. Kids these days want their phones to be unique, and I think this is a great way to achieve that and have our work seen by another audience that may not have seen it before.
Stephen Mitchell:
Byron, I shoot photography mostly to feed the soul and to stay sane. The few dollars I make feed back into my photography – either for future gallery’s or lenses! (LOL)

I am not part of the smart phone culture myself so can not justify the time spent to design something to fit with a fad of something I am not familiar with (the fact that young kids are given i-things and people nearly cause car accidents from chimping these things is another topic).
Stephen Mitchell:
Haha Cheryl, I should be of the ‘smart phone culture’, yet I don’t have one as yet – I cannot justify the monthly expense! I could easily spend the time to design them, but then I’d be distracted from what I enjoy more: Shooting photographs. Oh, and I agree, these toys cause many accidents!
Philip Johnson
I’m thinking of excluding iphone cases from the nikon group , the group is about the image not a product line, its a shame there isnt a button available to hosts to block that product line
Stephen Mitchell:
Philip, that is a grand suggestion! I wonder if they would consider enabling blocking that product line? Will check it out in the support forum.
Philip Johnson
well hosts can block other product lines, i cant see the reason we cant block cases
