Approving Artwork for South Australia

I am in a bit of a pickle, and it is a difficult situation to put into words.

As head moderator for Adelaide/SA , I make the final decision on what gets approved and rejected. Whilst Dave, Georgie and Jemma have the ability to say yay or nay on your submissions, I will go through them again and remove those that don’t quite fit the requirements.

This is where I am trying to be delicate in my words: The requirements . We have clearly written what is required to fit the theme of this group. In order to achieve this theme, I will say a firm NO to many submissions.

Please note:
There are other groups for imagery where the main focus is animals, macros, birds, people, human portraits, framed/bordered images, etc.
When your work comprises of any of these elements ALONE (where it is the main point of focus), you’ll most likely NOT get approved for inclusion within this group. YET when your artwork includes those elements in a setting that is very obviously South Australian, then, yes, your chances of inclusion are excellent.

The main point to realise is that we are looking for HIGH QUALITY artwork, images worthy of being framed and hung in your own home.

Now for your thoughts on this issue…

( To both members and moderators: Please read the image requirements to know what will be approved and why some are rejected. )

I think it makes a great Adelaide card?

It does make a great card, there is no doubt about that.

Sorry, Stephen, I don’t see your problem. Its a South Aussie icon and photographed in South Aust. Maybe just ask Barb to state the location the photo was taken (eg, coffee shop, kitchen, back yard… a generalised location not just “South Aust”... eg… “taken in the kitchen of a southern suburb of Adelaide”).
This photo has been around for over 2 weeks and has been in the group for that long too, from what I can see. Plus it’s been featured as well, so to suddenly think its not part of the group is a bit odd.

Ok, ok, I’ve removed the text referring to that particular image. The point has been missed, and I am not interested in having a online-fight over pedantic’s.

BUT: That image is a secondary and less important issue. It got featured by another moderator and that’s that. I would never have approved it. It is a food group. There are groups (or as I call them, categorys) for food.

ANYWAY, I spent nearly 3 hours writing the original article trying to best get the real issue that members need to be submit HIGH QUALITY artwork.

Looks like I am going to have wear the flack on this issue. There is a part of me that so wants to delete this conversation, but then I’d be failing as head-moderator of this group to deal with issues.

Hi Stephen, it’s all about Location, Location, Location for me and that’s why I stop by the group regularly to see how others have photographed significant, or even insignificant parts of our state. I’ve often thought some images don’t qualify as uniquely SA’n so I think it’s a valid point you make about keeping an eye on the requirements. Appreciate the work you and the moderators do to keep the group alive.
