2010 oil on canvas 100cm x 70cm
This painting is a continuation of the twisted faces and forms that I created over the last 6 years.
Paintings such as ‘deep sea diver’ or ‘the nightshift’ ( which are based on the features of a face ) are precursors to this work.

There are two profiles hiding amongst the shapes here.. one of them is that of the composer who’s music lures the beetles to the strange musician.
The other profile symbolises the joy of playing music.
The real life ‘violin beetle’ inspired this work and is a follow on from my 2010 paintings using beetles and masks.
Recently shown at the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh, this painting will soon feature in the opening show of an exciting new gallery in town called Bon Papillon.
I am thrilled to be part of a fellow artists’ venture and I hope they enjoy great success.

Later on in 2011, this painting was again selected for a big exhibition.. this time in Glasgow at the Royal Glasgow Institute. It was a great year for this work and I was delighted to have my painting exhibited in two of the UK’s biggest public art events.

Thankyou for looking and I am always so happy to receive comments and features!!
