1999 reworked 2010
Oil study on oil board (approx A3)
During my celtic period I started this solitary soul tangled upon a mountain top. I did several celtic tree people but most remain as studies. This one I have tried to rework this year but I still want to do more to it.
I thought about painting ribbons tied to the branches. ( ribbons with names or words ). I could even tie real tiny ribbons to the painting. Ive also thought about birds inhabiting the branches. Birds eating berries maybe?
The face was an early attempt to capture two moods ( or an inner thought ) which is something I have tried to do ever since.

blue, celtic art, oil paintin, symbolism, tree, woman

I have started putting photographs onto RB.

ohh yes i can see the birds eating red berries…gorgeous concept and execution

  • Thanks!! The design was pretty flat so I worked on it to give it more form. I only want to add something to get a colour contrast going so berries it might well be. Im doing beetles just now too so I might go crazy and put a swarm of jeweled beasties on the branches.. with a few birds having dinner??

Although I love it just the way it is, the contrast of red would be worth seeing

  • Thanks Deborah And Hello!! I will catch up with you ASAP! Its all about a contrast and also a random flower or berry thing will contrast with the symmetry. Bye for now!!

This is so beautiful. Love it as is. But you have always known where to go with a piece.

Indeed, welcome back. (My chair has finally stabilized.;)

  • Sounds like you need a new chair that wont wobble so much Frannie!! Maybe a bean bag will be safer… or maybe I just wont try to shock you again!! Thanks for the lovely comment. Funny thing is I wrack my brains on so so many paintings before I find a way. Theres seldom a right way but theres always a wrong way in my mind. I might need help with that!!

  • Thankyou!! Do you think I should add colour to the ground? That might be needed once I add things to the tree…
