Late Night Art.

Late Night Art.

Taking a very careful late night stroll into some of Melbournes back lanes whilst visiting this week, I came across this amazing place off Flinders Street where everything was covered in paint, including the bins!!!! Had to watch out for the rats that kept crossing the lane into the bins….....

I guess this always depends on your point of view, is it art – is it graffitti?

Shot with the Canon 400D – 17-85 lens on a tripod. Will try and work on some HDRs also taken that night and post them soon.

Hosier Lane at it’s grungy, bright best :))

Wish I’d known you were about !

  • Steve Chapple replied

Thanks Caroline. I spent three days over there with my wife who was at the gift fair. With other friends we went o Buddy Holly and spent a few nights down at Southbank. Last night there and I thought I’d head off on my own for a late night shoot. Probably not the safest idea but everyone seemed fine and just left me alone to get on with the photography.

    G’day Steve,
Great shot, Brilliant colour and how did the artists get up so high and do so much painting, the light comming in from the back very nice photo,Not to say anything about the rats running around.
    Cheers Rod.

Thanks very much for your constant support. They either sneak in with ladders or are damn tall people…....maybe there are extension poles for spray cans…..Lol.

Lovely shot and good work by these artists but it is still grafitti, painted on someone else’s property. I respect their art but not their poor choice of unauthorized canvas.

Very colorful however it is described, Nice find and capture. Hope you weren’t alone in that area.

  • Steve Chapple replied

Unfortunately yes. Tend to do these silly things sometimes, but loved what I found!!!

This is really nice Steve. Lots of colour, visually a very busy scene, but I particularly like the way the lines draw you to the final wall which is almost plain.

It is a very artistic view of graffiti, that depends on your personal view of graffiti! This is a stunning shot, it just works!!! I like the way you said you took a careful walk, Steve! LOL!

  • Steve Chapple replied

Thanks Vicki. The most worked part of my body that night was my ears, listening to make sure I was alone!!!! Lol.
