Drought Breakers?
Stark dark clouds coming in over drought affected land between Pinnaroo and Loxton in South Australia.
Not a drop fell but it gave the sense of impending rains much needed in that area.
The Barb you see is actually the top strand on the original normal stock fence that has been covered over by drifting sands. A new one has been put up behind it..
Quite a scary sight. Just what is happening to our earth??? Nature reclaiming the land?
Canon 400D 18-55 lens processed in PS3.
HDR originally merged in Photomatix.

Was through there a week ago on my way back from Bendigo. It is so dry and sunburt, it really is sad to see. This is quite a shot!
Simon Fleming
I’ve travelled this region a lot too Steve – it is scary to see changes of this magnitude taking place in a relatively short space of time
David Friederich
I just love this, Steve. Your image powerfully tells the story of the Australian drought. Wonderfully artistic in every way.

What an incredible shot Steve. Great perspective. It really presents a graphic example of how successive (or maybe continual) droughts have changed the face of this region of your country. We read about it in magazines or newspapers but this capture says far more than the proverbial 1000 words. Very well done. My thanks to you. (FYI, here, if we don’t get rain for a few weeks in the spring, we call it a bad drought. I’ll remember this shot next time we have a “drought” and I’m getting stressed)

Steve, I had intended to feature this today, Saturday, but then I decided to feature your “Pot of Gold” photo today, and this shot “Drought Breakers” I will feature next Tuesday. Sorry for the confusion. You can either delete this statement and the above “featured” banner and I will put a new banner in on Tuesday, or you can leave these two statements of mine in, which ever is best for you. Again, I am sorry for this inconvenience and confusion. – Cora

Colours and silhouette complement very well… great work Steve

it’s a good photo, but a horrible sight – the worst part being that it is true. I really feel for those warrior farmers of Australia that are out there and at the mercy of the elements and the climate is turning against them.

fantastic capture well done
