Death by numbers.
Large Radiata Pines being harvested in the Limestone Coast region of South Australia.
Marked with numbers relating to their size and due to be turned into all manner of things…......’Death by Numbers’.......
The good news here is that they come from established plantations that will be re established within the next few months ensuring future growth.
Canon 400D 18/55 2 shot HDR merge processed in Photomatix.

What a clever title, Stephen, and an INCREDIBLE photo! I love it! Part of the reasons is the memories it brings back. My dad and brother are loggers, and I’ve seen many such decks of logs awaiting the log truck. You’ve done an awesome job in making an ordinary thing EXTRAordinary!

Excellent composition, Steve

Nice and clever composition Steve. I l,ove how sometimes the most ordinary things can be interesting, this is a classic example.

excellent title Steve – love the diagonals within the image…and glad you pointed out about it being plantation timber rather than the raping of native forests as happens elsewhere

Fantastic! Living here, this is not an uncommon sight, but this image made me see it with ‘fresh eyes’ :)

Oh what great things HDR can produce when you have a special image to begin with. I have a friend who has a farm that needed some tree thinning and her trees were cut and marked just like these, I did NOT take a photo. You saw a great compo …I did not. I have learned from you. Liz
