I found 1 ladybug yesterday and was very excited LOL….but look at this!!! A mass gathering :)

This reminds me of trying to cross a small wooden foot bridge once. It was completly alive with ladybugs. This goes immediately into my cherished collection of favorites. Wonderful work. I hope you enjoy my gallery as much as I enjoyed yours.

It is truly an amazing shot, and I think you must have all ours for I have only seen a couple this Summer. A few years ago we had an invasion and our windows were plastered with them, they were everywhere, in our tea, hair, clothes, you name it, but since then, very few. This year the papers have been full of the influx of killer harlequin ladybirds, originating from Asia and unknown in the UK before 2003. Slightly larger and more extravagantly patterned than most native ladybirds, they have spread across England, competing with – and eating – British ladybirds, butterfly larvae and other bugs.

Some ecologists are predicting that the exotic harlequin will soon cause the extinction of several native insects, like our seven spot and tiny two spot ladybirds.
