Salt pan
The salty remains in a back water lagoon off the River Murray, Lyrup, South Australia. Access to this area is next to the Ferry at Lyrup.
The drought continues to effect this mighty river….
Even though sections are in trouble the main parts of the river continue to survive and the communities along them need our support! There is still plenty of water in the river main and lots of activities to be had.
Canon 400D 18 – 55 lens with polarising filter. 3 shot HDR in Photomatix.

Salt pan belongs to the following groups:
All About Water, Canon DSLR (One Image Per Day & A Canon Camera Must Be In The Description Before It's Accepted), HDR Photography (3 Photos per 24hr-day), Landscape Photography, Masterpiece: Photography, Something To Say and The Ashes - Australia vs England - 2 per day Available for sale asGreeting Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Mounted Prints, Canvas Prints and Framed Prints

Is this anywhere near Adelaide….I may be moving there in a few months :o)

Steve Chapple replied
Phill – Probably about 2 1/2 hrs by car from Adelaide on the River Murray. There’s a strong Adelaide RB group if your not already aware of it. You’ll love it if you do shift here!

I came out about 5 years ago and took a trip south to a town on the sea with a train that goes over to an island…cant for the life of me remember what it was called.
My sister lives in Adelaide..near Brighton Road.

Amazing capture, Steve, love the pinks and shapes of timber. Don’t love the reason they look so interesting for a photo though! Send down some rain, clouds!!
Darren Wright
this is absolutely stunning, and stunningly depressing all at once, I’ve a few images from the murray mouth taken a few months ago which is almost entirely sand, the murray system in my neck of the woods isn’t much better either, it has water, but I can almost walk straight down it’s centre for a few kms at a time down around tocumwal, the water is so low that most of the way down i can touch it’s bottom…

Hi Steve. This is a fabulous shot! You are so lucky to have so many beautiful subjects. I think you and I have the same tastes. Too bad I live in New York and can’t find many things to photograph in the winter. Peace!
Thanks for your comments.
Christine Boretti

Well done!
Joanne Bradley
So many elements are striking in this image! Particularly I note the roundness of the lagoon contrasted agaisnt the spiky trees and trunks, the wonderful color and reflections in the water, the framing and composition used. My country(Canada) like yours is known by for its expansesive and diverse landscape but Autralia’s uniqueness shines through and totally captivates me!
Critical Vision
Hi Steve this is an amazing shot – but ultimately sad scene for me considering what is happening to our environment. I first saw this shot before I was actually on Red Bubble. It was in the Adelaide Advertiser a couple of months ago as the picture for a story on the environment. But since seeing it on RB I was curious as to whether you knew the photo was used (I have a copy at work and will dig it out and send it to you if you do not have a copy) and if they approached you directly or they just took it off RB. They did credit you though as the photographer.
Keep snapping mate – your photos are a true inspiration to aspiring amatuers like myself.
Steve Chapple
Hi Dave, thanks very much for the support and comments. I did give the advertiser permission to use it, in fact that have used it twice and they sent me copies as well as the paper that I got delivered here. I appreciate your offer and the fact that you thought enough to drop me this line.
