Opened and restored in 1935 at the world renowned Griffith Park Observatory in Los Angeles, the Foucault Pendulum demonstrates the Earth’s rotation. As the day passes the pendulum knocks over pegs set-up in the pendulum pit (some eight feet down) indicating the rotation of the Earth.
The Observatory had recently completed a 200 million dollar renovation (2002-2005) by lifting the original building, dredging underneath and creating a modern renovation filled with the latest technology depicting the universe.
