The Shelter
Dulwich Park, SE23, is dotted with shelters where park-goers can sit and watch the world go by. Looking for an angle to add interest to the shelters, I found this gnarled looking tree hanging over one and this shot was born.
This was shot as part of my London Project – see www.sftnet.co.uk for more details.

G’day Stephen,
I applaud the diversity of the subjects in your project and your good eye for choosing them.
I also agree with your use of the wonderful knarled tree but feel you have overdone it here as it competes far too strongly with the real subject of this photograph.
I also feel the subject itself is far too dark which hides any discernible detail.
My sugggestion is that you reframe the shot if you can reshoot or crop down to minimise the tree if you are going to keep this image and that in either case you open up the shadows in the darker areas of the shelter for a more revealing image
Remember exactly what the subject is and work on that.
I really like the perspective you chose for this shot as it does show the shelter off very well but perhaps moving more to your left – if possible – may render a better result.
