Towers of Power

Towers of Power

The iconic Battersea Power Station, shot as part of my London Project (see www.sftnet.co.uk for more details). The power station has been closed for many years, but the structure still dominates this section of the Thames with its unmistakeable silhouette. Thanks for looking!

    G’day Stephen,

This photograph is as powerful as the famous old powerhouse and demonstrates an incredible tonal range and contrast.
The lighting, exposure and processing are perfect and when combined with the nicely crisp focus and good depth of field, ensure we see all the intricate detail.
I do feel though that the subject is far too central and offer the suggestion that you crop down to eliminate about half the sky. This will then raise the building and add even more impact.
Your point of view has been very carefully chosen to show as much of the structure as possible and the reflection is a very nice touch.
Strong, powerful, brooding – the image and the building.

Dennis, thanks very much – for the nice comment and thorough critique. I’ll experiment with crops and see if I like them better. Thanks for taking the time.
