This is a marvelous sentiment. Literacy in the US is horrid, especially where my family and I currently live. In rural Tennessee, the poverty level is tremendously high. And yet at the same time there is so much disparate living conditions. What I mean, we have trailer house parks almost right next door to gorgeous affluent neighborhoods. It is bizarre.

And there is a weird sense of conspicuous consumption, for example a tremendous amount of plastic surgery centers and stores that sell furs. While so many social woes go unspoken.
I am so sorry for the rant.

I do love this image, because it does so pluck at my heart.

Thanks izzybeth, I share your concerns. I saw that milk carton and I thought about so many people who suffer because of lack of education. On the other hand, consumerism has made education overrated.
