    The last days of steam were seen as ‘THE END’ but a similar scene could be captured today in so many places. 42 years ago it was dirt grime and sadness. Steam trains today are polish and a status symbol…how times change.

    Good shot, thanks for reliving those days on the SW Main line, which I remember well.

    I like to think of the men who worked in such conditions during those times, day in, day out. Today the visual effects can be recreated but not the reality of decay and tough conditions.
