thanks Martin.. i have just spent some time looking through your work.. it’s quite stunning and i’m chuffed to bits to have your comments on this pic which seems to be turning out as my most popular one.. the Church stands high above Vik, on a grassy hill, in usually grey skies but is beautifully white washed with a red slate roof- it’s such a great setting!

I have also stayed in Vik. The church on the hill. Next to the graveyard if i remember right.
Sorry to get so excited. My favourite place in the world so far is Iceland. Loved it.

everything keeps changing in Iceland Adrian, the weather, the light, the terrain, it is THE most incredible place. We stayed for one night in one of the little chalets just below the church rented out by the petrol station / restaurant, it was the only option we had as we weren’t visiting in the warmer season. I would go back again at the drop of a hat.. mind you there is a cheap flight from London to Tromso now.. on Norwegian, and that place sounds really interesting.

This is a very unusual photograph and setting! I love the contrast of the building against the blue surounding.

Beatiful lighting and angle – the mountains almost look like a wave, adding to the dramatic aspects of the shot. Looks like a wonderful part of the world.

Very nice image and a great mixture of ambient and artificial light. I spent two days in Vik last year trying to photographer this church and I know how unpredictable the weather is there. Apparently Vik is known for its weather which is the wettest in the country. I was lucky – got a couple of hours of sunshine. It rained for the rest of the time.
