I was lucky enough to be asked by Rene Fuller to translate his wonderful image The Long Walk… for the Sojie 12 and this amazing image so reminded me of the wonderful blues used by Van Gogh that I couldn’t resist coming up with this title.

My love of the sea stems from my childhood. I was born in Hartlepool on the North East coast and visited the little fishing village of Staithes often, as I still do today. The fishing cobles to be found on the North East coast serve as my models.

Wow, what a successful translation. Love the blues, along with the very clever title. Van Gogh is probably looking down with a smile on his face. Just curious Sue, what is the medium you used?

  • Thank you so much, Jim, very pleased you think Van Gogh might look kindly upon it.

This is so not you that I almost missed it. Had it not been that it stood out from the crowd I might have passed it by. But it does stand out, wonderful work as ever, love it. Alma x

This is a wonderful translation Sue. You`ve totally captured the anticipation and vibe of the original, and added your own emotion and excitement on top.
And even the collaboration apart, you`ve created a painting that is gorgeous and organic and full of life in its own right.
    Absolutely stunning art :-)))

  • Wow! Thank you Billy, your lovely comments are very much appreciated:)
