Almaalice, very kindly allowed me to use her super photo of this elephant and of the same title,so I could do a pen and ink version.
I have great difficulty photographing my pen and ink work and on this version I have created grey areas in photoshop that are not there in the original.
My original shown here
just looks grey and so much detail is lost. any ideas anyone?

Alama’s original
My love of the sea stems from my childhood. I was born in Hartlepool on the North East coast and visited the little fishing village of Staithes often, as I still do today. The fishing cobles to be found on the North East coast serve as my models.

My dear Sue, I am so flattered by your comments on my picture and honoured that you would want to take time to forge this lovely version. I think it is a most admirable representation and depicts all the power of this mighty animal superbly. Thank you so much. Alma
Thank you the pleasure and honour were all mine. :0)

Thank you Lynda, the original is only 5 × 6″ but does take a while.

Thank you. I find it a great way to relax after a day of painting!

Looks great Sue. Try scanning your pen and ink work instead of a photograph. Minimum 400dpi black and white should do it.
Thank you Val. I only have a small scanner at the moment but I will certainly try it.

Wow, it’s absolutely great Sue! A beautiful depiction of Alma’s gorgeous photo!
By the way Sue, do you have a scanner or perhaps thought of investing in one? It gives perfect clarity and picks up all the detail in a painting and a sketch particularly. Mine can only take up to folio size paper, I really must invest in a bigger one for the bigger paintings.
PS: I prefer your original photograph with the plain grey back-ground…. makes the sketch stand out and shows off the detail beautifully….
Yes, I do too so thanks for that. I did have a scanner but it went the way of old technology. We still have a small one attached to another computer so I will give that a go.
I enjoyed doing it so much i am now working on a bigger version!!

In the mean time you could maybe try taking your large pen and ink work to a copy shop and they may put it on disc for you ready to upload. Just smile at them!!
LOL, thank you Val!
