A typical Welsh cottage tucked away in the trees and under a brooding mountain.
(oil on board 30 × 20cm)

My love of the sea stems from my childhood. I was born in Hartlepool on the North East coast and visited the little fishing village of Staithes often, as I still do today. The fishing cobles to be found on the North East coast serve as my models.

Oh so inviting and lovely…I so enjoy your work

  • Thank you Valentina, I am so glad you find it inviting, I thought it might come across as a bit scary!

A beautiful balance of realism and subtle abstraction. I love the colours ..especially your use of the reds and the touches of gold in the grasses which help create the “eyepath” …a great composition!

  • Thank you so much Mrs Willow, lovely observations.

The earthy reds and greens and then the white of the cottage invites me and I must say that the gloom or looming mountain then doesn’t hold fear for me :)) just adds atmosphere and depth……its a cottage one could do a lot of thinking in ..around the fire with some port :)

  • Sounds good, when shall we go?

This is super, Sue. Eye catching and full of light. I was born in Wales and I recognise those Welsh rain clouds!

  • Those clouds are what makes wales beautiful! Thank you very much.
