Strange Sun Dial - How to read it? by

Located in the ‘Bunya Community’, Woodcroft, New South Wales.

So, I live right across from a ‘gated community’. It is quite an ‘arty’ area. Often I go exploring with my camera and find some of the strangest and most unusual pieces.

I happened upon these fascinating steel, wrought iron and wooden Sun Dials. They are three huge beams (approximately 12ft tall) which have a tempered steel and wrought iron casing over a huge railway sleeper, each piece has the wood protruding at different lengths. Apparently, according to the description, this is an old style ‘Sun Dial’.

I tried reading the time by the shadows cast down from the individual pieces, but I tell you what, if you can figure out exactly how it works, then kudos!

I thought they were pretty fascinating. I love weird.

Enjoy.

Greetings All, I am a survivor. I see life through a very unique filter these days. Every moment, every insignificant event matters. I use a Canon 500D with a variety of different lenses. I adore dogs. I am a staunch advocate of the much maligned ‘underdog’, both in the canine world and also outside of it. The world is full of beauty – this I know. Happy snapping fellow travellers.
