Damask she said
don’t forget me
Too old before her time
a woman in a child
Unraveling before 20
ribbons forgetting their bows
Damask she said
is it in me?
She’s got a long way to run
to let the elegance seep in
Because she’s tired
because she’s worn
Because those GRACES
have forgotten her with thorns
She blows against the wind
cutting into sky
Damask she said
return to me
Damask my prayer
Damask my intercession
God give me that elegance
that has fallen away
God give me that grace
that can never be replaced
Damask she said
