WW-II Gun Emplacement, Marin Headlands, CA. by

Leica DL4

This WWII era weathered, steel door was access/egress to a large gun emplacement on the Marin County side of the Golden Gate. There are emplacements on both sides of the Golden Gate which were intended to stop a Japanese Naval attack on San Francisco from the Pacific.

Photographically I thrive on composition & available light. I don’t hesitate to use my digital software to create what I like to see.
I very much agree with the concept : Like a good joke, if a photo or painting needs to be explained … it is probably not really so good.

Glad you like this photo icesrun; this door rather fascinates me too! Some of the holes may be from “weekend shooters” in more recent years. These gun emplacements, thankfully, saw no WW-II action whatsoever.
