5.5 foot wooden butterfly made for the Huntsville, Alabama Botanical Garden. 35 butterflies were made and artists from the area were invited to paint them. The exhibit starts May 5th and the butterflies will be auctioned off in August to raise funds for the Botanical Garden.
This is my interpretation. Entitled Blossoms of Hope, Hydrangea blossoms painted with acrylics on the wings, pink ribbons encorporated into each section. The base is hydrangea groupings encasing pink ribbons. Blossom is sitting atop wooden hydrangea pedals. The butterflies will be featured in the garden thru August 2012. just found out that mine will not be auctioned off in August. They have decided to keep her in the Garden of Hope in honor of thier CO, who is battleing Breast Cancer right now. I am honored and truly humbled that they are doing this.

I have always loved art. It doesn’t matter what media I work with. I love trying new things or just making things up. I love to sew and design. I am a breast cancer survivor and a big advocate of raising money for research, and helping others with care and treatment. Please enjoy my artwork. I put my heart and soul into every piece. God Bless and BIG OLE SOUTHERN HUGS FROM MY STUDIO TO YOU!

You need to specify that you used acrylics in order to be accepted. Great work though.

  • Thank you for reminding me! And the sweet comment….
