NEEDS TO BE VIEWED LARGE Panorama of 3 photos of Portman, Costa Calida, Spain. The little bay of Portman nestle under the soaring hills of a national park and it is unspoiled and quite. Portman has a history dating back to roman times and for two thousand years it was an important source of valuable minerals. The beach has been discoloured from the mining. To the right of portman is some derelict mining processing plant and above a mining chimney. On the mountains are modern wind turbines and below them high in the hills is another abandoned mine. The mountains are richly coloured from all the mining. Mining was prominent in the area at the turn of the 20th Century although dates back to Roman times.
