Your Candle Burned Out Long Before Your Legend Ever Did by

Hello. 27th June and number 178 in the ongoing 365 image mega series.

The image of the candle was taken tonight at home.

Three pictures here – candle, dancer (Beth) and cracked glass texture.

The cracked glass was placed onto the candle, blended twice with hard light and partially erased. The pic of Beth was converted to black and white and placed onto the candle/glass and erased to blend after being blended with overlay twice. Some of the background (candle pic) was erased to help with the blending.

Candle In The Wind by Elton John

Goodbye Norma Jean
Though I never knew you at all
You had the grace to hold yourself
While those around you crawled
They crawled out of the woodwork
And they whispered into your brain
They set you on the treadmill
And they made you change your name

And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never knowing who to cling to
When the rain set in
And I would have liked to have known you
But I was just a kid
Your candle burned out long before
Your legend ever did

Loneliness was tough
The toughest role you ever played
Hollywood created a superstar
And pain was the price you paid
Even when you died
Oh the press still hounded you
All the papers had to say
Was that Marilyn was found in the nude

Goodbye Norma Jean
From the young man in the 22nd row
Who sees you as something as more than sexual
More than just our Marilyn Monroe

Canon EOS 20D / Canon USM 28mm-105mm lens on all images.

I’ve been taking photographs since 1997 and I still love it. After a brief dislike of photomanipulation I now use Photoshop extensively on a majority of my work. People are my favourite subject and I’m always on the look out for new models, so drop me a line if you’re interested! :)
