Road Trains Are Sizeable
Just outside of Quilpie (south western Queensland) there’s a great sign warning you about the Road Trains and how they can reach 53 metres. A 53 metre long three trailered semi, just think about how big that’s going to be for a minute. We saw a couple three trailers and they were massive great dusty monsters, devouring everything in their path. Well not quite, but when they’re doing 100k/h they certainly have right of way.

Ah.. Now that’s a better crop ;-)
53m is pretty damn long though. We only get them 36-37m here (2 trailers).

Holly cow… 53m long!

hell yeah, they’re huge and kind of awesome too. Thankfully we don’t get them closer to the coast I don’t think they’d cope with the traffic here somehow.
Watched one of them turning around, it took a good ten minutes and about three hundred metres of empty space ;)
