In Shadows I Stand
A cracked Withy tree on the banks of the river Brue before the sun rises on a winter morning.
Some days I take photos and it feels okay and they’re nice and things generally just go well. Other days something clicks and I find some amazing things.
I got up early this morning to make the most of what looks like the last of the recent cold spell. Clear winter skies make sunrises quite special but that extra low level cloud makes it really pop. This was taken about half an hour before the sun was really visible. In fact the colours before the sun rose were much more impressive than afterwards.
This was the first photo I took this morning. I decided to spend a little longer than usual considering what I wanted to say. I’m very pleased with the end result. If you’re wondering, the colours are out of the camera. I blended two shots together to retain the detail in the tree.
Thanks for reading. I hope 2009 continues like this!

Taken aback (and back some years. Used to fish hereabouts, but I never remember a Winter’s day with so much warmth to it). Interesting information too.
