Yellowjacket by Pete Janes

The bane of summer picnickers and barbecues, the “I’m going to sting you because I feel like stinging you” bullies of the back yard.
Yet they are also symbols of irascibility, tenacity, and fearlessness. Their color motif impacts all of us every day: dangerous construction areas and hazards are often blocked with black and yellow, a universal sign of caution.
Up close, yellowjackets are marvels of compact design. Like sharks, they found evolutionary perfection millions of years past and have changed little since. With the help of man they have colonized every corner of the globe.
If you fancy yourself a faultless opportunivore, a raider of barbecues and despoiler of condiments, then this is the shirt for you, or perhaps a sticker?

great tee design… but maybe off putting for some… as you state so well… but I like it!
((maybe on the back of a tee would be scarier/cooler… folks slapping you and all that!))

  • Thanks James. Off-putting for some . . . but hopefully on-putting for others!

Oh that is so real looking I’m not sure I could look down if I was wearing that, LOL! VERY cool!

  • Thanks Cindy! Between yours and James’ comment, I’ve half a mind to do a design life-size, just a small wasp on a corner of the back of the shirt. Although if you wore it, people would smack at you.

Yikes, the stickers are more or less life size, LOL. not sure which is scarier, realistic ones or unrealistically huge on a tee, LOL!

  • I like to bring insects up in macro . . . I think their size is a barrier between our forms of life, and if people can see them more as animals, they’ll come to appreciate them more.
Not really certain what to appreciate about a wasp . . .
