Grave of H. P. Lovecraft, Providence, Rhode Island by

An unassuming stone proudly proclaims “I am Providence.” Located in the Swan Point Cemetery in Providence, Rhode Island. The items visible are perhaps tokens left behind by other fans, but I only had an Altoid.

Organic produce slinger by day. Automatic Scribbler and Deliberate Renderer by night.

“Pete Janes entertains the macro insect crowd with meticulous gouache and watercolor specimen pieces, while his more imaginary illustrations seem to be glimpses into faraway realities.”—noted art critic and Portland bum R. Terialspray

He’s not dead. Just lying and dreaming ;)

  • True, true, Vaggelis. I submitted this to the Cthulhu group even though it doesn’t really fit . . . I thought his fans might be interested in seeing his mouldering tomb.

Not far from Lovecraft’s grave is a little granite tombstone in the shape of a house, very handily crafted (love-crafted?) that simply says ‘Gone Home’ on it. Interesting cemetery.

wow…this actually brought a tear to my eye. If you ever go back, could you maybe put a little flower there for me? I don’t know if I’ll ever get to Rhode Island myself but I sure would love to visit. HPL is my ultimate literary hero and inspiration. x
