Cthulhu Dreams of the Eyes S/He will Collect . . . by

A moody, mixed-media piece. The original illustration is in pencil, pen and ink on bristol board. I inverted it and touched it up in Seashore. This is best viewed larger!

H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu was a gigantic, octopus-headed wizard-scientist which walked the Earth and died millions of years before humankind. It has been said that Cthulhu will rise from his deathly sleep “when the stars are right” and that our time will be over. I am eternally grateful to Mr. Lovecraft for casting open the doors of his mythos for any and all to play with.

just awesome. love the large amount of DARKNESS.

  • Me, too, thanks IWML. I’ve been experimenting with digital inverting, and it makes me want to go back to scratchboard, charcoal, etc.

This is fantastic. Great portrait of Cthulhu and great artwork as well.

  • Thank you, Lynette. I would venture to say that I have drawn or painted Cthulhu more than any other single subject, although most of those pieces flew the coop long before the internets kicked on.
