There was a time when I was a young punk who scoffed at screen-printed “punk” shirts, especially those featuring the A for anarchy. Anarchy isn’t about mass-produced, Mal-Wart purchased accoutrements, it’s about freedom of self expression. It’s a license to create.
Here and now however, print-on-demand has made me more comfortable with the idea of reproducing my work on a screen-printed shirt.
That’s me in the image, dolled up last Hallowe’en in my own old 1980s punkster gear, mohawked and angry as ever. I am standing near my mountainous display of winter squash. I am indeed a “produce punk” (and organic at that), but I also like the double meaning: [you should] produce punk!
