Gazpacho in A Night on the Town by Pete Janes

Gazpacho in A Night on the Town by

Pencil, pen and ink on bristol. As with many of my anthropomorphic drawings, this one flowed from my subconscious all in one feverish, sleepless night. This one is a tad surreal . . . many of the characters in here began as random pencil lines, and their personalities, actions and interactions just sort of . . . happened. I am particularly proud of the band (Yogen) in background right. Best viewed larger.

Organic produce slinger by day. Automatic Scribbler and Deliberate Renderer by night.

“Pete Janes entertains the macro insect crowd with meticulous gouache and watercolor specimen pieces, while his more imaginary illustrations seem to be glimpses into faraway realities.”—noted art critic and Portland bum R. Terialspray

Oh my I’m staring it for an hour… amazing. You must get crazy with all these details.

  • Thanks Rouble. Actually, I feel less crazy if I can get all the details out of my head!

I LOVE the details on this…It would drive me crazy to try and do something as wild!

  • Thank you, Sno! You may have noticed that backgrounds and full scenes are not that common in my repertoire, but I guess that’s a good thing, as I would go crazy myself filling in all the details!
