Mount St. Helens eruption 2004 by

Less than an hour from my home, Mount St. Helens never fails to surprise. Back in 2004 I drove up to the north side of the mountain for a fresh view, caught some clear-day reference photos, and headed back to paint. Just as I was finishing I saw a news broadcast showing the mountain erupting (again), so I added a little piping steam cloud!

Organic produce slinger by day. Automatic Scribbler and Deliberate Renderer by night.

Crazy stuff! I remember the ash made it all the way to my home in Conrad, Montana when it erupted in 1980. As a Tacoma, Washington resident now, I have been able to go see it in person and am absolutely in awe. Great work Pete!

  • Tacoma? I guess I’ll run when St. Helens or Mt. Hood goes, you run if Rainier blows its top! Thanks Ken.
