This is my final translation of Alissa Brunskill digital image Fortification for SoJie 13.

It was an honor to work on this image. I hope that you all see what I see when comparing these two images. I do get the same “feel”. I hope my interpretation pleases.

I think that we all Hide in our art at times but if you look close enough to any such work you will be able to find the person within.

Wow, honestly, I would not know which one was the originating work, Alissa’s or yours, if it weren’t for the workshop. Either one could have been inspired by the other. That’s how CLOSE you were metaphysically speaking, to this work and process, Robin. Incredible result and a beautiful photograph, with these deep, rich values. They literally resonate.

  • Frannie, your comment and your fave mean the world to me! Thanks so much for holding my hand through this process. You made me back up and that is just what I needed! I am so happy that the outcome of this project is to your liking. I am really happy with the way this interpretation turned out too! Thanks so very much from the bottom of my heart! :D

It is stunning, Robin, I so agree with Frannie’s comment you have even caught the dappled shading. Love it.

  • Thank you very much Sue! I think I even surprised myself with the outcome of this translation! This kind of work is a first for me. I’ve never translated someone elses work before! I do appreciate your kind words! :)

I don’t think you could’ve done a finer translation, Robin! It’s brilliant. Congratulations to you and Alissa on an obviously perfect pairing!

  • Thanks so very much JD! I do really appreciate your wonderful compliment on my work! SoJie 12 and 13 have been a real eye opener for me. You actually really inspired me with your most recent work for the exhibition. Brilliant! I loved your story about you feeling defeated and then all at once your fabulous find, and of all places!!!…in the recycle bin! You really never do know where you will find your art! Wow is right! The lines are the dominant feature of each and both have definitely got the same feel. The colors and shadows really add to the lines…giving texture and contrast. I think you did a fabulous job, Robin…definitely captured the “you” in this!

  • Oh Barb…you are such a good friend to say such wonderful things. You do see me….I’m almost teary eyed reading this. This was a real stretch for me and I fretted over the outcome of my venture so much. I am so happy that you like this image! Thank you! Hugs my friend…:)
