I was out for a drive in Hillsborough, New Hampshire USA and saw this large birch tree sitting at the top of the snow covered hill as the sun was starting to set. Taken 2/12/11.

Nikon D300, 200 ISO, handheld, Photomatix and finished in Picnik (1 raw image), 70×300 Nikon Lens, f/11.

(I frequently tramped eight or ten miles through the deepest snow to keep an appointment with a beech-tree, or a yellow birch, or an old acquaintance among the pines.
- Henry David Thoreau, 1817 – 1862)
