this is cool Soxy. I like this new direction of work.

  • hello!! hope you are all well and getting some sleep!
so nice to hear from you….yes I’m getting into this and I’m sure it is doing wonderful things for me…..it’s a fascinating process and real character creation…this one took hours, every time I moved any element slightly a whole new attitude appeared…he started out looking like Henry VIII. it’s also very difficult to photograph these because you cast a shadow on them and get shine from the paper. I should probably also try using a tripod so I can get the ISO down, get better DOF and have a longer exposure…..

i reallyu like these new collaged have you resolved the glue thing yet…i am very interested as i am not happy with what i use to glue with.. which is matt medium.

  • thanks Donna….I still prefer to scan collages (but they need to be glued)….. this way the very fine adjustments can be made with placement….that never really happens when you have to glue…thing is, I would like to glue some of these but I doubt I’ll ever get around to it! and they would also come out a bit different I’m sure..can never get the bits in the same place exactly (which might be fun anyway)

  • oh sorry I didn’t realise what you meant…the wax? no I haven’t found one yet but I haven’t really been looking. I’ll be using cow gum until I find my waxer I think

    Very fiercesome looking, Genghis Khan?

  • influenced by mythology I think (we were discussing that today)…
I don’t know George, all this worrying stuff that
    pours forth from me… ; )

Perhaps you need to channel your imagination to more earthly matters, as a collection they are taking on a Pythonesque personna, the time to woryy is when your imagination starts to wane!

  • yes indeed George so true thanks for reminding me : )

    Excellent soxyllage!
This one looks really like a bird… wearing a Mongolian hat! (I thought of that BEFORE I read George’s message)

Soxy, you’re with no doubt the Queen of Collage!

  • I do tend to get the hats….and then you go find them! it’s interesting that for a long time there was a real nose there but I just didn’t like it so that crystal nose plate thing came in, not even sure what it was!
thanks Eva…your visits keep me collaging!

The color does work, but only because you have such a good eye for which color, I think! The Warrior is a good addition to the Family.

  • I’m pleased that they end up so colourful (I don’t live in a black and white world that’s for sure….) I must say my collage mess is pretty gigantic right now….I really should clean it up a bit : )
    thanks mm

I like the unglued aspect – a dada element!

  • Hi John and thanks…sort of feels like cheating not glueing but I know the advantages….precise placement. In the end it’s just using the techniques we have at our disposal these days, and I’m all for combining the old and the new! I like this fellow, he may seem fierce but I actually think he is kind.
