clouds
First experiments with pinhole technology small but so atmospheric I just had to show them

Just saw the first post…yes, can see more here and they look great as paired!
funny how back to the future things are
Soxy Fleming replied
don’t you find them atmospheric? they make me think of dreams and memories. These were long exposures as the sun was behind clouds and the day was late. should be fun with some bright sun
Stuart Chapman
The atmosphere is really intense – very edgy and thought provoking stuff
Soxy Fleming replied
thanks Stuart. When these are scanned properly I’ll post another hoepefully bigger version. They really do have the stuff of dreams and memories
RavenSoul
AWESOME!!
Soxy Fleming replied
thank you. This cemetery is a wonderful place for pictures so I’ll be back there!
Karirose
Wonderful!
Soxy Fleming replied
thank you for your visit and nice comment
RebeccaT
Just love these…especially nice when shown together. The textures are wonderful. :)
Soxy Fleming replied
the way I scanned them the images were very small so it was the only way I could get them to a reasonable size. I’ll be interested to see proper scans of the negs and I have a few other ideas about geting from hard negative to digital file. I’m glad you like them too!
jemimalovesbigted
These are AMAZING!
Soxy Fleming replied
don’t we have fun? I still haven’t gone and bought some more out of date film, and I still haven’t used the fantastic plastic! I had advanced double exposure plans for it…...now I have been seduced by pinhole and paper negs! and I’m not going to run out in a hurry….there is far more paper in the old boxes than I expected (at least 300 sheets I would think!) oh well. it is winter so some indoor fotographeee projects might be good.
Genevieve Robey
This is incredible. Well done. Feels like it’s haunted!
Soxy Fleming replied
thank you
I had no idea how they would turn out. I have to credit my wonderful Fleur, photoshopper extraordinaire, who made the first images appear from what seemed like nothing. great location, so I’ll probably go back there and take some more
Ilmari Fabritius
Amazing work Soxy!
Soxy Fleming replied
thank you, this is all a big exciting adventure!
Lutz Baar
Really special photo artwork!
Soxy Fleming replied
thank you it’s fun too!

Come on folks am I the only person who realises this is a plea for help. Times are hard downunder. I’m going to start a whip round to buy Soxy a new camera !
I mean she can’t take her biscuit tin down town to record the Queens next Ozzie tour..
She needs one with nobs and dials and stuff..
Soxy Fleming replied
I’ll make sure I put knobs and dials on my next biscuit tin…
EnPassant
Biscuit tin rules!! Nice work and I bet it was great fun too.
Soxy Fleming replied
yes lots of fun…this one isn’t the tin though…its the matchbox pinhole camera with film…..just been at this cemetary location 5 minutes ago this time using the tins. Had a bit of technical difficulty but we shall soon see what we have come up with!
madworld
I love your work..really love the effects you are getting
Soxy Fleming replied
thanks, a new area for me but very rewarding
deepbluwater
very atmospheric indeed!! love the look & mood of this!
Soxy Fleming replied
thank you…it has been likened to b & w 1960’s Italian horror movies….I’ve never seen any!
Lynne Haselden
Cool – dark and other worldly.
Soxy Fleming replied
thanks, I’ve taken a few more in this location with pinhole cameras…just need to get into the darkroom
R Nixon
Once again, quite good. I’m admittedly drawn to darker things, so that’s influencing me. To me (and that’s just me) it speaks of loss, loneliness, ennui and sadness. It’s more effective as a montage than any one of the images would be alone; I also like the textures.
One of the many unrelated directions I’ve been pursuing, while not involving pinhole photography, has dealt with destructive textures. The only thing on here related to that would be “Convergent Series”.
I’m seriously going to have to get that digital pinhole thing going. You’ve inspired me . . . that’s about as honest a compliment as you’ll ever get. From me anyway.
Soxy Fleming
I spiring people is a great compliment….and one of the reasons that redbubble is a good place. Yes, you can search for days and not be inspired but there is a lot of extraordinary talent around here if you can find it.
This piece was thrown together as a way to get a print sized image out of the very small scans I had of the pinhole work. As with many things I do like this everyone loved it. Being spontaneous seems to work for me in an art sense.
The texture is something my scanner does without being asked.
snapshotjunkie
Very cool! Nice job!
Soxy Fleming replied
thank you…this one did capture a great atmosphere

I don’t really understand the processes but I know I really like this image.

Soxy Fleming replied 14 days ago
thank you Clare….it really is very simple technology…a box with a tiny hole that lets the light in….some guesses about exposure times and then developing in alternative chemicals that really do much the same thing as “standard ones”. photoshop adjustments (not always needed) after scanning on a really everyday scanner. I’m still learning a lot about all of the steps but the results and surprises are just such a buzz. thanks for visiting
