Talking Doesn't Help
This piece was inspired by words my sister spoke after losing her husband in an unexpected work accident last week. She was left with three children and he was a wonderful, unselfish and patient man. We will all miss him greatly. Words escape me when I try to comfort her and when someone offers to be there to talk, that has been her response.
The image came to me and had to be let out, though I don’t think it quite captures the grief well enough. Usually sketching in ink like this is cattartic for me, not having to be percise and each line making a point. Sometimes there are just too many lines to draw.

This has powerful emotional impact. The pain is visceral and I feel so sorry about the loss of your sister’s husband. What a tragedy and I hope your sister is strong for her children who must be profoundly grieving. I am the host of the healing journey on RB and this image and several others fit out group. I hope you check it out as I know you also are grieving and you would be warmly welcomed in our group.

Thanks so much for your compassionate words Julie. I will be checking out the group soon, but just wanted to respond to your comment in the meantime. It is a really process for the entire family to deal with this loss. Your understanding is greatly appreciated. And what a wonderful idea for a group.

haunting and gut-wrenching piece – and beautiful words you wrote.. Sometimes all we can do for our grieving loved ones is be present (and know when to give space too)
