I am driven by an all-consuming passion for popular culture, music, fashion, art, design, architecture and subcultures of the 20th century. The work you will largely see of mine on this site is my architectural photography; over the past 5 years or so I have become more and more interested in Modernism’s original context as a positive utopia for future living, and its current state as overlooked and somewhat failed. Initially inspired by post-punk/New Wave electronica, developed by a further education on and understanding of Modernist art and design.
The photographs were taken on a standard compact Samsung camera, and despite having done this for almost 6 years now, I still consider myself something of an amateur. Most of all, I value aesthetic experiment over technical proficiency.
My left-wing political leanings and my northern working-class upbringing also have a fair amount of influence on my ideas and practice.
I study BA (Hons) Fine Art at Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London, from October 2014.
