Lord John

Walking through Covent Garden with no real intention of taking any photographs, my attention was caught by this thoughtful-looking gentleman.Fortunately I did have my camera, and I took this shot. It was published in ‘The Ava Guide to Outdoor Photography’ (Thames and Hudson).

Lord John belongs to the following groups:

Candid Photography ( 1/24 ) , Film Photography, Kairos, Medium and Large Format Film Photography, Street Photography and Photojournalism and The Human Condition Available for sale as

another beautiful capture David – i love the tones – they have a wonderful richness – i love the depth of field and how the man seems like he is in a world of his own. I think the post is incredible – i shimmers off the screen and looks so silvery – almost liquid silver – just brilliant.

Lord John indeed! Quite well dressed but certainly not happy…....
I love the movement in the background making the subject stand out….

    Simon Mears

he only just belongs in this picture, he is so sharp, the background, everywhere outside him and the post, being fabulously urbam, movement and business.. maybe this chap is taking a breather.

This caught my eye whilst browsing someone elses favourites – a cracking image, and your subject is well featured. The nice low angle gives strength, and the motion a certain timelessness. Superb work.

The shot is so simple but capturing …...... well done.
Out of curiosity, did u use panning technique of this or something else?

  • david malcolmson replied

Thanks for your comment, Emoto. I cannot remember exactly, it was taken many years ago. When I scanned the neg several years ago I might have added some motion blur.
