David, I’m so pleased that you have posted your work here at RedBubble!
This image is a great piece of documentary photography and a stark reminder that, essentially, the human condition of the alienated and marginalised fringe dwellers, has not improved much in the last 40 years…
Mugsy

Very emotive photo! Really makes me stop and think how people get into their situation, what I could do or wish I could do, what they go through each day, and many other things… just what a good photo should do!
Brad Sumner GLP
Great capture! You can feel the despair in their lives!
Belinda "Billy...
So sad, but wonderful black and white photograp. What state was this taken in?
david malcolmson
Billy Lee, the shot was taken in London (UK) during the 1960s. Thanks for your kind comment.
Marnie Kirkness
and they didnt mind you taking this pic? Wonderful character scene shot.
david malcolmson
I knew them well and used to stop for a chat. I was oung then and perhaps a little brazen. I would find it difficult to do a shot like this today. Nevertheless it is a record of a moment and it finds a sympathetic response in all who see it.
frogster
What a great character study. you can just see the hurt in the man on the rights eyes. We are all just one step away from being like these two gentlemen. I really like you study on all these old shots, great work.
Jade Cawthray
Has anyone seen the play ‘Waiting for Godot’ ? I dont understand the play completely but these two remind me of the two protagonists.

I’ve been truly amazed at the grey people (heroin addicts) in London.
david malcolmson replied
It’s twenty years since I was in London. I can visualise the misery and feelings of quiet desperation that the drug culture has brought to the city. The gentlemen in this shot were addicted to alcohol.

This is even more amazing to be seen in your exhibition David. I apologise for not congratulating you on your homepage feature the other day.
david malcolmson replied
Hello Michael. I don’t think you can beat the experience of seeing a picture on the wall unless it’s in a beautifully printed coffee table book. The homepage feature caught me by surprise as well. I was wondering what had prompted the sudden surge in comments. Best wishes, David.
